The Annual General Meeting is on:
Saturday, January 14th, 11 AM, at New Horizons
Please come early for a delicious Pancake Breakfast at 10 AM!
We are looking for member comments and suggestions, as well as people interested in joining the Festival Board. It is not very onerous, and is both satisfying and a lot of fun. Know anyone? Come to the meeting and share your ideas.
The Festival dates are Thursday August 2nd until Saturday Aug 11th
The Opening will be followed by five spectacular nights at Olsen Farm, then four beautiful evenings at the Hornby Community Hall. Save the dates, you won't want to miss this one!
We extend heartfelt thanks to all our visitors, members, donors, sponsors and volunteers for making this year so memorable!
The Festival kicked off with the Opening Reception, with a retrospective of our 30 years and a concert by members of the Purcell String Quartet, who performed at the first Hornby Festival, this year joined by Adrian Dolan and Andrea Neumann.
The anniversary line-up included folk, reggae/ska/pop, Afro-funk, fiddle and dance, and classical offerings on the main stages, as well as imaginative children's programmes. As in past years, Art in Unusual Places showcased the performers throughout the Festival, in magical spots around beautiful Hornby Island. See the 2011 archived programme for all the details.
We sincerely thank all the opening artists, our very talented friends and neighbours: Andrea Neumann, Breghan Smith, The Stowaways and Jill Candlish.
The Hornby Festival Society is so grateful to its generous sponsors and partners:
Remember, you make the magic happen! This 10-day world-class event has been named one of the top five festivals in Canada (Aeroplan Magazine) and one of the top 5 cultural events in BC (Macleans). We enjoy stunning performances against the beautiful backdrop of the mountains, ocean and rolling hayfields at Olsen Farm and at Hornby Island's charming Community Hall.
... the Hornby Festival has grown into an acclaimed 10-day event. Our programming includes classical, jazz, world beat and traditional genres of music, modern dance, childrens' programming, theatre and spoken word. Join us for Festival 2012 as we continue to bring leading and innovative world class artists to our stages.
